I just use a basic plugin for the same effect. But I can’t tell you how much traffic I get from non-English visitors.

This is very nice indeed. There are scripts that actually converts the blog to the language of your choice, and virtually quadruples your blog presence because each page/language is unique. It costs a pretty penny though. This is the next best thing
